How HeyDeer reviews a pull request
HeyDeer installs as a GitHub App and reviews each pull request against the whole repository, not just the diff. It checks every finding against the code before posting it, so each comment explains what’s wrong, what it causes and an exact change you can commit.
Each review rates the pull request low, medium or high risk and reports a HeyDeer Review check you can require before merging. When you choose findings to fix, HeyDeer runs your tests in a sandbox and opens a fix pull request, and Autopilot can keep fixing and re-reviewing until the pull request is ready to merge.
Teams teach it their rules with REVIEW.md, AGENTS.md and repository checks in .agents/checks. Each check gets a reviewer of its own and runs on every pull request that changes the files it covers.
Switching from CodeRabbit to HeyDeer
You don’t have to switch at once. Install the HeyDeer GitHub App on a few repositories and run it next to CodeRabbit on the same pull requests. To keep the trial quiet, turn off the GitHub check and review comments: reviews still run, and results appear only in HeyDeer.
Compare useful findings, false positives and the time your team spends checking them, then the actual charge for the same work. Our evaluation guide includes a worksheet for this.
A REVIEW.md written for Claude Code Review works in HeyDeer as it is, and the AGENTS.md your coding agents follow is the same file HeyDeer reviews against.
