heydeer

Your reviewers decide direction. HeyDeer checks the details.

HeyDeer reviews every pull request first, so your reviewers start reading once the details are right and spend their time on design and product decisions. On 1,000 of our internal pull requests, HeyDeer reviewed detailed correctness more accurately than human reviewers.

The details people skim, checked on every PR

  • Error handling

What happens on a timeout, a 404 or a partial failure, before it’s in production.

  • Boundary values

Empty lists, zero amounts and off-by-one limits, on every changed line.

  • Concurrency

Races, retries and duplicate requests that a quick read of the diff won’t show.

  • Broken callers

Code outside the diff that the change breaks, flagged even where GitHub can’t place an inline comment.

  • Standards your team repeats

Turn the comments reviewers keep writing into repository checks, verified on every pull request they cover.

  • A walkthrough for the hard ones

Large pull requests are grouped into Must read, Should read and Skim, so reviewers know where to start.

Set up a review your team can rely on

  1. 1

    Review every push

Choose On every push for the repositories your team works in.

  2. 2

    Make the check count

Turn on Fail the check when issues are found and require the HeyDeer Review check.

  3. 3

    Read after it passes

Ask reviewers to start reading once the HeyDeer Review check passes.

  4. 4

    Approve routine PRs

Optionally, let HeyDeer approve low- and medium-risk pull requests with one required approval.

Built for the whole team

  • No seat fees

Unlimited developers and repositories on every plan. You pay for reviews, not for people.

  • Roll out in stages

Start with a few manual reviews, then one or two repositories, and let HeyDeer gate merges once your team trusts its results.

  • Insights

Findings by severity over time and what your team fixed or declined. A high decline rate in one repository points to missing context there.

  • Decline with a reason

Anyone with write access can decline a finding. HeyDeer accepts the decision unless it has concrete evidence of something serious.

  • Who can request reviews

Anyone with write access by default, or only the users and teams you choose.

  • Your code stays yours

HeyDeer never stores your code or trains on it. Every review runs on a temporary clone that’s discarded when the work ends.

Frequently asked questions

Does HeyDeer replace human code review?

It takes the detail work off your reviewers. HeyDeer checks error handling, boundary values, concurrency and the callers a change breaks; people judge direction, design and product decisions.

Is there a per-seat price?

No. Every plan includes unlimited developers and repositories with no seat fees. You pay for the work reviews do, in credits.

How should we roll HeyDeer out to the team?

Start with @heydeer review on a handful of pull requests and compare with your reviewers, fill the gaps with AGENTS.md and checks, then turn on automatic reviews for one or two repositories before the whole workspace.

Can we try HeyDeer without it commenting on pull requests?

Yes. Turn off the GitHub check and review comments, and reviews still run, with results only on the Reviews page in HeyDeer. It’s a quiet way to compare its findings with your team’s.

Can HeyDeer approve routine pull requests?

If you turn on automatic approval. Set it to low- and medium-risk pull requests, require one approval and dismiss stale approvals, and people review the high-risk ones.

How do we see whether the team acts on findings?

Insights shows findings per pull request, findings by severity and whether each was fixed, still open or declined, by repository and, for admins, by author.
